Atkinson Lake is found in St. Clair County, Missouri. It is part of the Schell-Osage Conservation Area which is six miles west of El Dorado Springs on Highway 54. The area was named after the Osage Indians. Channel catfish are the most abundant here, as well as flathead catfish. There is also a fair amount of crappie and bass. There is a daily limit of four channel, blue, or flathead catfish. Due to the waterfowl season, Atkinson Lake is closed from October 15 except for those who possess a valid daily waterfowl permit.
