Cameron has four lakes which serve as the city’s water supply system. Lakes 1 and 2 are significantly smaller than Lake 3 and they are utilized mainly for sediment control, although they can be used for water supply in emergencies. Lake 3 provides drinking water for the city as well as the Grindstone Reservoir. Pony Express Lake which is located 9 miles west of Cameron on Highway 36 is a conservation area that is perfect for some fun and relaxation. You can go bird watching, camping, fishing, hiking and hunting here. There are ample facilities to suit your needs.
