The 218-mile long Chariton River also called the “Grand Divide” because rivers west of the Chariton River flow into the Missouri River, and the rivers east of the Chariton River flow into the Mississippi River. This muddy river ends at the Missouri River near Chariton County. Fishing for catfish is a popular activity on this river.
