Lake Paho is in the Lake Paho Conservation Area which is located in central Mercer County. The area consists of prairie, fields, forest, cropland, and grassland. There is a great population of bass and catfish, and fair numbers of crappie and sunfish. Harvesting bass that are more than 18 inches is restricted to only two fish. There are 3 camping areas, 2 concrete boat ramps, and numerous picnic tables around the campgrounds. There is also a hunting area with good populations of deer and dove.
